Bursa Barış Müzesi

The Bursa Peace Museum is designed as a memorial and experiential space dedicated to commemorating the 11 soldiers who lost their lives during the liberation of Bursa. The project aims not only to present a historical narrative but also to create a powerful spatial memory through which visitors can establish a meaningful connection with the past.

The museum’s concept is based on the relationship between the exhibition spaces located underground and the memorial area on the surface. Visitors begin their journey from a large public square and are gradually guided into the interior spaces of the museum through ramps and stairs. This process is conceived as a transition and remembrance experience, allowing visitors to approach the historical narrative step by step.

Vertical memorial elements rising within the landscape create a strong symbolic expression representing the fallen soldiers. These monumental columns, designed at varying heights, establish a spatial rhythm while offering areas for reflection and commemoration. The use of natural materials that will gain patina over time reinforces the building’s connection with memory and the passage of time.

The underground exhibition spaces are supported by light wells and controlled natural lighting elements, creating a calm yet intense atmosphere. With its architectural language, landscape design, and symbolic narrative, the Bursa Peace Museum is envisioned as a public space that preserves the memory of the past while keeping collective remembrance alive.
