Yıldırım Market Hall is located in Arabayatağı Neighborhood of Yıldırım, Bursa, within a densely built residential area surrounded by public spaces. The project is designed not only as a marketplace but also as a multifunctional public space that supports social and cultural interaction. With its responsive structure to the dynamics of urban life, it provides solutions to the social needs of its surroundings.

In the design, the natural slope of the site is actively utilized to create functional differentiation across multiple levels. While the lower level accommodates commercial uses, the upper level is dedicated to the market area and social activities. This level organization guides user circulation and reduces environmental impact by separating vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The market space is designed with flexibility to host events such as concerts, open-air cinema, exhibitions, and fairs throughout the year, rather than being limited to weekly use.

The enveloping shell of the structure serves not only as an aesthetic architectural element but also as a functional covering. Its wind-responsive form softens air movement, while its grid-like structure allows for natural lighting and ventilation. A central opening collects rainwater, which is then redirected for reuse within the building and integrated into the structural system.

Based on a mixed-use concept, the project incorporates social spaces on every level, ensuring that the building remains active throughout the day and across all seasons. With a capacity of approximately 800 market stalls, it contributes economically and socially to its surroundings. Its seating arrangements, circulation flows, and flexible layout reinterpret the traditional market concept in a contemporary way.

Sustainability is one of the core principles of the design. A form responsive to natural climate conditions, on-site rainwater management, flexible usage scenarios, and adaptable spaces make the project prepared for both present needs and future urban living.

Yıldırım Market Hall is conceived as a multifunctional and sustainable public structure that establishes strong connections with its surroundings and holds a meaningful place within the city. Through its design, it aims to provide long-term value for both users and the urban environment.
